What is Instillamed?

The internal lining of the bladder wall is composed of GAGs, (glycosaminoglycans) which protect it from harmful irritants in the urine. When the GAG layer is damaged, the wall loses its protection and irritants pass through into the tissue.

Instillamed is a medical device instillations therapy that contains two GAG layer components:

800mg hyaluronic acid

1000mg chondroitin sulphate

Replenishment of the GAG layer

Instillamed is instilled directly into the bladder to replace the damaged GAG layer with hyaluronic acid and chondroitin suflate, helping to relieve the symptoms of the following conditions:

·         Interstitial cystitis

·         Recurrent urinary tract infection/Recurrent bacterial cystitis

·         Radiation cystitis

Instillamed is available in a sterile disposable pre-filled 50ml syringe and is instilled into the bladder via a catheter using a Luer Lock connector.

How long do I need Instillamed for?

Your doctor or nurse will advise you of the duration of the treatment with Instillamed, as it varies from patient to patient. Generally, you will be given Instillamed once a week for 4 weeks, followed by monthly doses until symptoms are resolved.
